River Rafting Galleries

ETC River Camp : Environmental Travelling Companions is an awesome organization that provides paddling, camping and wilderness opportunities for people who might not get the chance to enjoy the outdoors. To learn more about them see www.etctrips.org. I was first introduced to this group in 1999, when I entered their annual kayaking regatta, where I paddled from Sausalito, around Angel Island, and returned. The following year, I earned a ribbon (my first ever, not bad for an asthmatic overweight 40+ gal!!) The people I've met with ETC have always been terrific, and this year, I volunteered to assist with their river rafting program. Unfortunately, my week was abbreviated by a work commitment that would not budge, and I didn't make the cut at being a guide. But, I get to be an "assistant guide" - I assume this means I get to schlep heavy gear, enjoy joyous Participant's emotions. Not bad... not bad at all.
